IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Ruth H. Koski, 76, of E5264 Sunset Rd., Ironwood Township, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 14, 2005, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood.

The former Ruth Abelson was born April 11, 1929, in Hurley, daughter of the late John and Julia (Kolu) Abelson. Ruth attended the Oma State Graded School in Oma, Wis., and graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley, Wis., in 1946.

She was employed as a clerk at Rodeghiero's Bakery in Hurley for many years, and at the Hansen Glove Factory in Ironwood. Later, after raising her family, she worked at Lakes Distributing Co. in Hurley for three years.

Ruth was united in marriage to Eugene J. "Gene" Koski of Oma on Nov. 10, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2000.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ironwood. She loved crocheting, and in her earlier years, enjoyed rug making and handwork.

Surviving are a son, Gary (Amy), Clinton, Mich., and a daughter, Sandra Fowler, Banning, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Gust (Ruth) Abelson, Belvedere, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Arlene Abelson, Oma; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene "Popeye" Abelson, on Sept. 10, 2005.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Acres Cemetery in Ironwood Township.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
