Elizabeth K. 'Betty' Hall








IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Elizabeth K. "Betty" Hall, 93, of Junet Road, Ironwood Township, died Saturday evening, Oct. 8, 2005, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.

The former Betty Koski was born Nov. 25, 1911 in Ironwood Township, daughter of the late Isaac and Elizabeth (Waarala) Koski, and attended Ironwood Township schools.

She was employed in private housekeeping in Lake Forest and Oak Park, Ill., with National Envelope in North Chicago, Ill., at Johnson Motors in Waukegan, Ill., and in Ship's Service at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Great

Lakes, III., and retired from the Swedish Glee Club in Waukegan in 1980, returning to Ironwood Township in 1984.

Betty was a member of Zion Evangelical 1911-2005 Lutheran Church in Ironwood and a former member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan, where she belonged to the St. Mark's Kitchen Band, its Lutheran Church Women, and to various church circles. She was also a member of the National Finnish-American Festival and sang in the National Finnish Festival Chorus, and belonged to AARP. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking, and singing.

Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, and was a friend to all. We will miss her smile and her lovely blue eyes, and how she giggled when we called her "Queen Elizabeth."

She was married to Ben Ripley, who preceded her in death.
She was then married to Max E. Hall July 9, 1949 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan by the late Rev. Arthur Enquist. Max preceded her in death July 24, 1995.

Surviving are a son, Robert L. Ripley (Jane Alm), West Allis, Wis.; two daughters, Bonnie M. (Ted) Ramp, Ironwood Township, and Carole (Anthony) Cozzi, New Lenox, Ill.; a stepson, Charles (Doris) Hall, Marion, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Nelson and Elvera Anderson, both of Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husbands, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Willard D. Ripley in 1965; two grandsons, Richard E. Hall and Christopher Cozzi; three brothers, Walter, Uno and Nels Koski; and three sisters, Ellen Blomberg, Gertrude Mrdjenovich and Signe Menigoz.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Interment will be in Sunset Acres Cemetery in Ironwood Township.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home Inc. of Ironwood.
