IRONWOOD -- Debbie Lee Asunto, 35, of 163 E. Midland Ave., Ironwood, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, in her home.

She was born Sept. 1, 1969, in Ironwood, daughter of Ronald and Constance (Page) Huotari, attended the A.L. Norrie Grade School, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1988.

She was then employed at Pat's IGA in Ontonagon, at Hardee's in Ironwood, and at Copps IGA in Hurley for several years, and at the time of her death was employed in office management at Kmart in Ironwood.

Debbie was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ironwood and the Norrie Amateur Sports Club. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and spending time at their camp on Powers Road in Ironwood Township.

She was married to Thomas E. Asunto Sr. on Nov. 13, 1999, in Hurley. He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Savannah Huotari, of Ironwood; three sons, Thomas (Tammie) Asunto Jr., Pewaukee, Wis., Derek Asunto, Milwaukee, and Jason Asunto (Brooks Hine), Bessemer; a granddaughter, Brianna Asunto, Pewaukee; her parents, Ronald and Connie Huotari, and her brother, Ronald Huotari Jr., all of Ironwood; two sisters, Cindy (Scott) Smith, Matchwood, Mich., and Pamela (Darryl) Anderson, Ironwood; her father-in-law, Charles Asunto, of Ironwood; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Jean Asunto, Franksville, Wis., Audrey Gayan, Ironwood, Shirley and Eugene DaRonco, Pewaukee, John Asunto, Ironwood, and Tony Asunto, Portland, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis Strong, officiating.

Committal services and interment will follow in Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township.

Luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Huotari Jr., Darryl Anderson, Scott Smith, John Asunto, Scott Czerneski and Bart Westeen.

Arrangements are with the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home Inc., of Ironwood.
